WATER HEATERS

Water Heaters

Water heaters are a necessary part of your home’s infrastructure. Whether it is electric, gas, or tankless the role of the water heater is to reliably provide you with hot water when you need it.

Water Heaters Explained

Gas Water Heaters: This type of water heater uses a gas burner located under a water storage tank to heat the water. A thermostat is used to open and close the gas valve when the water temperature rises or falls below its set point. These usually cost less to operate than electric water heaters and will still operate during a power outage.

Electric Water Heaters:  Electrical currents are delivered to heating elements, by way of thermostats, which heat the water to a set temperature. As with a gas heater, a storage tank is used to hold the hot water. Electric water heaters are more efficient than gas heaters because there is no heat loss associated with them.

Tankless Water Heaters: Both gas and electric water heaters use tanks—tankless water heaters do not. The heating element is connected directly to the plumbing system. These systems are called “on demand” because the heaters heat the water as it is needed. This system uses less energy and can result in lower energy bills.
